Recruiting is led by a production software architect with recruiting experience since 2011. We review the résumé and relevant delivered work, then assess engineering judgment, role depth and domain fit before recommending a profile to your team.
A clear view of strengths, limitations and fit—before you invest in a client interview.

01 / Engineering assessment
Read the judgment behind the résumé.
We look at decisions and responsibilities in context. These are questions the software architect and relevant specialists explore, adapted to the actual role.
01
Own the production problem
We explore urgency, impact, safe recovery and communication. A useful engineer can explain what they owned, how they escalated and what changed after the incident.
An interview question
A critical pipeline misses its delivery window. What do you establish, communicate and act on first?
02
Frame an unclear requirement
We look for thoughtful questions, explicit assumptions and a testable problem statement. The candidate should distinguish the business outcome from an early solution idea.
An interview question
Stakeholders ask for a dashboard but disagree on the metric. How do you establish what should be built?
03
Make the architecture understandable
We ask candidates to explain system boundaries, dependencies, trade-offs and failure modes in language the team can use to make a decision.
An interview question
Which decision would you document first, and what new information might change your approach?
04
Work through data approvals
We assess how the engineer works with data owners, security, business teams and platform teams. Access and governance decisions need a clear owner and an agreed path.
An interview question
Two departments own data your solution needs. How do you move the work forward while approvals are unresolved?
05
Release with discipline
We review source control, peer review, testing, deployment and rollback thinking. Candidates should connect DevOps practices to the way a real environment is operated.
An interview question
How would you make a change recoverable and show the team that it is safe to release?
06
Design for performance
We test how the engineer thinks about scale, data movement, query behavior, cost and observability. Performance should inform design and be checked against a baseline.
An interview question
What would you measure before choosing a larger cluster or rewriting a slow data job?
07
Balance delivery and change
We look for practical agile judgment: small useful increments, visible dependencies, clear priorities and honest communication when a requirement changes.
An interview question
An urgent request arrives mid-sprint. How do you handle it without silently dropping another commitment?
02 / From requirement to start
Four steps. A shared view of fit.
Your team remains responsible for its selection decision. Our job is to bring a useful assessment and make the next steps clear.
01
Define the work to own
Agree the outcome, seniority, technical environment, budget, working location, overlap hours and client interview process.
What this establishesA role brief grounded in the assignment.
02
Start with an architect’s review
A production software architect reviews the résumé and relevant delivered work, exploring ownership, problem framing and how the person explains decisions.
What this establishesAn initial view of evidence and role fit.
03
Test the role and domain fit
Candidates who proceed take relevant specialist technical and domain interviews. We form a candid recommendation before any résumé is submitted to the client.
What this establishesStrengths, limitations and questions worth testing.
04
Select and prepare the start
Support your interviews and selection. Coordinate the agreed employment or engagement terms, approvals, access and initial responsibilities.
What this establishesA documented onboarding and follow-through plan.
03 / What you receive
The recommendation should help you decide.
A résumé describes experience. The recommendation connects that experience to the work you need done and makes uncertainty visible.
We explain where the fit is strong, where support or a narrower scope may be needed, and which questions deserve your team’s attention.

Role-specific depth
Interviews follow the work the role will own.
The technology discussion sits alongside production judgment. We adapt it to the responsibilities, dependencies and seniority of the assignment.
Data & analytics

Customer applications, permissions and system integration.
04 / Delivery locations
Plan the overlap. Match the budget.
Choose US onshore, Brazil nearshore or India offshore support, or combine them around the work your team needs. We agree the staffing mix, budget, overlap hours, coverage expectations and access requirements for each assignment.
Local collaboration
US onshore
US-based engineers for close collaboration with your stakeholders. Discuss remote, hybrid or on-site work around the assignment, local access requirements and your budget.
Working-day overlap
Brazil nearshore
Brazil-based engineers for working-day overlap with US teams. Balance collaboration and budget around the role, and agree meeting hours, location and availability before the start.
Planned handovers
India offshore
India-based engineers with planned overlap and documented handovers. Shape the staffing mix around your budget, with agreed review windows, access controls and escalation responsibilities.
Urgent requirements
Give each start dependency an owner.
We can coordinate an urgent onboarding plan around the checks and decisions that matter. Timing depends on availability, employment or engagement terms, required approvals, work authorization and access.
01
Confirm the role, decision makers and essential start dependencies.
02
Assign owners for contracts, required checks, work authorization and access approvals.
03
Agree the first work item, environment access, communication cadence and escalation route.
04
Review the early assignment and address gaps while they are still small.
From staffing to consulting
When the work needs a broader delivery commitment.
Many UTIS consulting engagements began with staffing. An embedded engineer may be the right starting point. If the need expands into a defined project or ongoing support, we can help scope responsibilities, deliverables, validation and handover.
Understand the assessment, employment path and responsibilities before deciding on the next step.
What happens before a résumé reaches our team?
A production software architect starts with the résumé and relevant delivered work. Candidates who proceed take specialist technical and domain interviews relevant to the assignment. We form a recommendation that explains fit, evidence, limitations and open questions before sharing a résumé for your selection process.
Do you screen only for technology keywords?
Technology depth matters, but it is one part of the assessment. We also examine production ownership, problem framing, architecture, communication, governance and release discipline in situations relevant to the role.
Can an engineer work within our delivery process?
We discuss your team’s ceremonies, decision rights, release controls and ways of working before recommending the assignment. The assessment looks for practical collaboration and delivery judgment; it does not assume that a process label or certification establishes fit.
Can you help when a start is urgent?
Yes. We can organize the readiness checklist, owners and communications around an urgent requirement. The actual start depends on candidate availability, employment or engagement terms, required approvals, work authorization and access. We make those dependencies visible early.
Can staffing develop into a consulting engagement?
Yes. If the need extends beyond an individual role, UTIS can help define a scoped project or an ongoing support engagement. We agree the responsibilities, deliverables and commercial terms for that work separately.
Where should candidates start?
Use the Careers page to share your résumé and areas of technical interest. We discuss fit for an actual role, including the work, working arrangements and relevant eligibility requirements.
